Embark on an unforgettable mountain adventure along the renowned trail from Prionia (1,100 m) to the Spilios Agapitos Refuge (2,100 m), one of the most iconic routes on Mount Olympus.
This is the most popular and iconic hiking route on Mount Olympus, forming part of the E4 trail and continuing from Litochoro–Prionia. Prionia, the highest point reachable by car (18 km from Litochoro), offers parking, a year-round café-restaurant, and the main spring of the Enipea River. Visitors should take advantage of the facilities, refill water bottles, and note the availability of public restrooms. Cars may remain parked overnight.
The trail is in excellent condition, passing through dense forests of pine, beech, and fir. Along the way, hikers will find panoramic viewpoints and two comfortable rest areas located at approximately one-third and two-thirds of the route (please remember to leave no litter behind).
Around the two-thirds point, the trail emerges into an open section with zig-zagging switchbacks leading to the refuge. From here you will have your first view of Spilios Agapitos Refuge, perched high on a rocky outcrop. This final portion can be challenging, especially in summer due to direct sun exposure, so hikers should be mindful of hydration and UV protection.
The Spilios Agapitos Refuge sits on a natural plateau surrounded by ancient Bosnian pines, offering shelter, rest, and spectacular views of the mountain.
Finally, return to Litochoro for an overnight stay.
